Model Description
The Leica If was the technical counterpart to the IIf and IIIf. It omitted both the built-in rangefinder and viewfinder but retained the screw mount, shutter, film transport and flash synchronization. The body was intended for microscopes, Visoflex reflex housings, copying equipment and other apparatus in which the ordinary Leica viewing systems served no purpose. Two accessory shoes allowed external optical equipment to be fitted. Black Dial and later Red Dial forms followed the same general flash-synchronization development as the contemporary photographic models.
