Model Description
The Leica M4-2 resumed production of the conventional M4-type body after the M5 period. Manufacture was centred at Ernst Leitz Canada in Midland, Ontario, with changes intended to simplify production. The M4 self-timer was omitted, while a hot shoe and provision for an electric motor winder were added. The finder retained the M4 arrangement for 35mm, 50mm, 90mm and 135mm lenses. The M4-2 established the production basis from which the M4-P and then the original M6 were developed. Later special variants account for recorded examples outside the principal manufacturing period.
