Model Description
The Leica MD-2 was the finderless technical counterpart of the M4-2 generation. It omitted both the rangefinder and normal optical viewfinder and was intended for microscopes, reproduction apparatus and other scientific or industrial installations. The body retained the M bayonet, mechanical shutter and contemporary film transport. An accessory shoe also permitted auxiliary equipment or an external finder to be fitted when required. The MD-2 was the last major regular member of Leica’s long sequence of purpose-built finderless film bodies, following the Ic, If, Ig, MD and MDa.
