Model Description
The Leica Postkamera was made for fixed institutional recording apparatus rather than ordinary handheld photography. Versions were used by postal and telecommunications organizations for tasks including the photographic recording of telephone-meter readings. Depending on the application, bodies could omit normal viewing equipment and use a fixed-focus lens because framing and distance were determined by the installation itself. Both 24 × 36mm and narrower 24 × 27mm recording versions are documented. The Postkamera belongs to Leica’s technical-camera line rather than to the normal sequence of general-purpose M rangefinders.
